Beautiful Clear textured Glass Large Ornament measures roughly 16" round in center. "olde English Wish Ball" style desighned by Kitras Art Glass New with tag. Witch Balls were very popular in 18th century Englund but there actual origins are thought to be much older. For well over 300 years hollow glass spheres have been hung in windows to ward off witch spells, evil spirits and ill fortune. Hanging these decorative balls in the window is thought to tantalize evil spirits which may be threatening a homes tranquility. The evil spirit is mesmerized by the balls reflective beauty. When the spirit touches the ball it is absorbed and trapped in the web like strands of glass inside the ball. Because they are similiar to the glass balls used by fisherman on nets, Witch Balls are also associated with many sea superstitions and legends.

This is identified as an Avon Nativity figurine, The Angel, that is in the box. The box isn't perfect, but the figure is in fantastic condition. The figurine measures about 5 inches tall. You are bidding on a sterling silver Wallace Christmas cross 2004 (that needs a little better polishing than I gave it--a soft bristle toothbrush polish which I didn't have). It is from the Grand Baroque pattern and lists for 49.99. From the photos it is obviously a very elaborate piece.
