alexthegreatandme Store The story of the Nativity is told in this beautiful pyramid made by the Richard Glaesser company in Germany. The company is located in Seiffen in the heart of the Erzgebirge in the former East Germany. This area is known for its handmade Christmas collectibles such as pyramids and nutcrackers, toys and other whimsical pieces -- all hand made from solid wood. The pyramid and figures are all made of natural wood. It stands approx 17 inches tall. The Holy family is in the center of the first or bottom tier. You will find Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus. Behind them is a angel. The platform these figures stand on does not move. Surrounding them on a movable platform are the Three Kings and a camel and its handler. On the second tier you will find two shepherds and sheep. And on the top, there are two angels heralding the news of Christ’s birth. Each piece is handmade and hand painted in such fine detail. The base of the piece holds six candleholders. We only have one candle holder that you can take out and put anywhere or just keep it out. The wind moves it great too. When candles are placed in the holders and lit, the heat rises, causing the paddles to move on the top. They in turn cause the movable platforms on the first and second tiers to go round and round. Amazing detail, hand made and hand painted. Some pieces missing - but most there- It does have ALL of the top wind panels. See Photos' - Overall still an amazing piece of art.
